Clinical Assistant (CA) Program at The University of Vermont Health Network

Earn a full-time income while training to become a Clinical Assistant at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in New York.

While in class, you will be employed as a full-time Clinical Assistant student, where you will develop the skills and confidence to become part of our patient care teams. This program is a six-week course held Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at CVPH. It includes 240 hours of classroom instruction and clinical rotations with hands on training experience. Trainees will be paid $16.85 per hour in this earn-and-learn program.

Clinical Assistants are an integral part of hands-on patient care on the Medical/Surgical and Progressive Care inpatient units. Working under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, they have the ability to take and record vital signs, perform designated tests and collecting patient samples, and supporting patients in all activities of daily living.

Successful candidates will possess a high school diploma or equivalent, or be working toward it, exhibit an ability to follow instructions, and provide high-quality customer service.
