$22.28 - $35.10 per hour

This is a bargaining union position.

External candidates are eligible for a one-time signing bonus of $3,000 (prorated for part time roles). The bonus will be paid out as a $1,500 gross pay adjustment in the first pay check following the completion of a successful 6-month orientation; the second installment of $1,500 will be paid upon completion of one year (2,080 hours/prorated for part time) of service in the department hired into. Amounts reflect gross pay, prior to applicable tax withholdings and deductions required by law.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician is certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board(PTCB). The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician works under the direction and supervision of a pharmacist, performs those duties which do not require the professional training and judgment of a pharmacist. The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician has specialized knowledge in pharmaceutical nomenclature, medical terminology and mathematical calculations involving dilution of concentrates, weights and measures and ratios. Skills in aseptic compounding of intravenous medications are validated using competency based training as a frequent quality control audits. The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician consistently performs and builds on prior knowledge gained from performance as a Pharmacy Assistant and National Certification requirements. The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician maintains good business practices to ensure success of company within the mission of Fletcher Allen Health Care.

EDUCATION:

High School / GED plus one year of post high school education or related work experience. Self study or formal Technician Training to become Nationally Certified. Technicians will maintain their Pharmacy Technician Registration/License with the State of Vermont Board of Pharmacy as well as their National Certification.

EXPERIENCE:

One year minimum retail pharmacy within past 5 years, one year minimum experience in a health system pharmacy. Equivalent alternate pharmacy experience is acceptable.
