JOB DESCRIPTION:

The GME Director collaborates with the GME Designated Institutional Officials (DIO) to develop strategic initiatives for the GME enterprise at the UVM Medical Center. S/he is accountable for the development and implementation of comprehensive programs that result in the national accreditation for the organization and its 41 GME residency/fellowship programs. S/he is accountable for establishing systems to ensure the GME

enterprise maintains compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and serves as the organizationメs leader for the interpretation of Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Institutional and

Program Requirements. The Director is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of the GME enterprise to support an optimal learning environment for all programs. S/he partners with the DIO to develop systems for demonstrating achievement in the ACGME Clinical Learning Environment Pathways to Excellent. S/he serves as a consultant for GME Program Directors as well as manages the GME Program Supervisor and

central office staff. The Director is UVM Medical Centerメs liaison with ACGME and related institutions to ensure readiness for all institutional and program accreditation reviews and is the liaison with Human Resources,

Finance, Risk Management, Legal Counsel, Compliance and other UVM Medical Center departments as appropriate to address and resolve GME issues as they may arise. S/he is responsible for the GME budgeting process and regularly reviews the GME budgetary data and optimally balances fiscal responsibility with the need to maintain high quality GME programs.

EDUCATION:

Masters Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, , Health Professions Education or other related field required.  Individuals with Master’s degree in progress may be considered.

EXPERIENCE:

Must have a minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in a health care management setting, preferably in an academic setting.
