External candidates are eligible for a one-time signing bonus of $5,000 (prorated for part time roles). The bonus will be paid out as a $2,500 pay adjustment in the first paycheck following the completion of a successful, 90-day orientation; the second installment of $2,500 will be paid upon completion of 6 months (1040 hours/prorated for part time) of satisfactory service in the department hired into. This requires a one-year commitment.

We are seeking a clinical psychologist with a strong interest and background in health psychology and behavioral sleep management. The incoming psychologist will join a vibrant and robust sleep program and will collaborate with sleep specialists to provide assessment and intervention for patients referred to the Sleep Program. This psychologist will join an expanding department of clinical psychologists, neuropsychologists, psychometrists, mental health clinicians and trainees.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Provides psychological services to patients seen in a multidisciplinary sleep program within the Neurology Health Care Service of an academic medical center. We receive referrals for people of all ages. The incoming psychologist will serve a primarily or exclusively adult patient population unless they possess child training and would prefer to serve patients across the lifespan. Services include program development, diagnostic evaluation, psychological intervention, and staff consultation.  

The successful candidate may provide clinical supervision and training with Psychology residents, postdoctoral fellows and medical residents and students.

EDUCATION:

Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from APA accredited program.  Completion of internship from APA accredited program.  Completion of at least 1 year of postdoctoral training in a health psychology or hospital setting is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3 years’ post-licensure experience in Clinical Psychology preferred.
  • Recent graduates of PhD or PsyD programs in Clinical or Counseling Psychology may be considered for postdoctoral fellowship for this position. Salary and benefits would be commensurate with experience.
  • Minimum 3 years’ post-licensure experience in providing individual and family psychotherapy is also preferred. Recent graduates of post-doctoral fellowships with a strong relevant clinical background will be considered.
  • Prior experience with CBT-i is strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of cognitive-behavioral therapy and other empirically supported clinical interventions, crisis assessment and intervention, diagnostic formulation and treatment planning, general clinical and health psychology, and clinical consultation required.

Board certification in Behavioral Sleep Medicine preferred or willingness to complete requirements for board certification examination.

Must be licensed in the state of Vermont by employment start date.
