Research Compliance Analyst

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Research Compliance Analyst performs detailed analysis involving regulatory issues, reimbursement, and all aspects of monitoring the research billing compliance of the University of Vermont Health Network with regard to all federal and state laws and regulations. The Research Analyst monitors proposed research projects that use Network resources, performs payment coverage analyses, assists with creating a research budget, creates billing plans, audits medical, billing and related research practices for compliance with applicable regulations. S/he prepares data and reports of compliance monitoring activities and assists in identifying and resolving compliance issues and improving the research billing compliance process. S/he also is responsible for training and dissemination of research billing requirements, new regulations or regulatory changes to affected investigators and departments.

EDUCATION:

Must possess a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. An MBA, CPA or Masters in a healthcare related field preferred. The following certifications required: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or Certified Professional Coder - Hospital (CPC-H) or CCS (Certified Coding Specialist), and a Certification in Healthcare Research Compliance (CHRC).

EXPERIENCE:

At least one year of coverage analysis experience and experience in health care compliance or state and federal regulatory requirements. Familiarity with clinical documentation and health care reimbursement issues and clinical research preferred.
