This position is scheduled to work Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-4:30PM.

This position has the potential to be a hybrid position after an orientation period of 3-6 months.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Prior Authorization Navigator is a fundamental part of the patient experience and is a key contributor to the financial health of the organization and revenue cycle.  The Prior Authorization Navigator will navigate complex regulatory requirements while coordinating activities across multiple disparate information systems to support physician and hospital operations while delivering a caring message in a streamlined, transparent and cohesive process.  The Prior Authorization Navigator shall function independently, resolve patient and operational issues and effectively manage patient financial engagement while facilitating all aspects of the access experience to ensure the Central Vermont Medical Center revenue cycle remains whole.  Additionally, the navigator will serve as a mentor and resource for staff, providing support, direction and where needed, service recovery. 


EDUCATION:
Associates degree or vocational training in a relevant area; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. CHAA certification required at hire, or within one year of hire. Demonstrated ability to mentor, support and educate peers while managing resources and patient flow within a specific work environment.


EXPERIENCE:

Requires a minimum of three years’ experience as a Sr. Patient Navigator, or a combination of equivalent experience in a healthcare or insurance setting. Requires ability to diffuse angry customers and handle pressure with excellent verbal communication skills. Demonstrated experience dealing effectively and compassionately with sensitive situations.
