JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position assists with the daily activities of a clinical site and facilitates the flow of patients by providing clerical and clinical health care support to patients and family under the direction of a provider. The position requires mastery of basic clinical activities and some advanced clinical activities.

ADDITIONAL DESCRIPTION:

The MA II is an integral part of the UVM MC Employee Health team.  The MAII is a key contributor to delivering high quality care to new hires and volunteers coming to work for UVM MC.  The role includes, but is not limited to: accuracy in performing initial chart prep, administering vaccines, under the supervision of an Employee Health Nurse, with knowledge of vaccine timelines and documenting medical activities accurately in the employee medical record, N95 fit testing, etc.  The role is also involved in quality projects and reports in accordance with the MAII professional scope of practice.  The MAII will provide cross- coverage for the Employee Health front desk, these responsibilities include: working in collaboration with Human Resources, pulling medical forms, immunization records, etc. for chart prep, and answering Blood Bourne pathogen and Employee Health phone lines. The ideal candidate will demonstrate attention to detail, excellent communication and customer service skills, computer technical skills (Teams, Microsoft suite, etc.) and is able to work in a fast paced department environment.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Vocational training in a relevant area preferred. CPR certification required.

EXPERIENCE:

One year experience providing or assisting in direct patient care required.

SIGN ON BONUS:

External candidates who have not worked within the UVMHN in the past year are eligible for a one-time sign-on bonus of $2,000 gross. The bonus will be paid out at $500.00 following the completion of a successful 90-day orientation; the second installment of $1,500 will be paid upon completion of one year of satisfactory service in the same department.
