JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Supervisor of Home Infusion Nursing Services is responsible for overseeing all clinical and operational aspects of the home infusion nursing program administered by UVMMC Ambulatory Pharmacies.  The Supervisor ensures appropriate and safe transition of patients to the home infusion service by providing oversight and guidance to the Home Infusion Nurse Coordinator position. The Supervisor manages home infusion nursing staff and functions as a Home Infusion Nurse Coordinator when necessary.  The Supervisor provides leadership by working cooperatively with pharmacy to establish priorities and goals of patient care and maintaining open and effective communication patterns. The Supervisor of Home Infusion Nursing Services is a key contributor in the achievement of The Joint Commission accreditation for Home Infusion Therapy Services, leads the home infusion nursing team’s involvement in the quality improvement program and monitoring of infusion outcomes. 

EDUCATION:

State of Vermont Registered Nurse (RN) license required. The University of Vermont Medical Center is moving toward an all Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) workforce. All external candidates hired into, or current employees promoted to, a RN position will be required to obtain their BSN as outlined in the terms of their offer letter.  Current internal RNs are strongly encouraged to pursue a BSN to support this initiative.  MSN is preferred for this position. 

EXPERIENCE:

Three to five years of home infusion experience including case management and home administration of acute and chronic therapies, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. CRNI and/or IgCN desirable
