Hospice Spiritual Caregiver

Are you a compassionate and experienced spiritual care professional ready to join a dedicated team? Home Health & Hospice is looking for a Hospice Spiritual Caregiver to provide essential spiritual support to our clients, their families, caregivers, and our interdisciplinary team. In this role, you'll ensure comprehensive spiritual care is available to our families, either directly or by coordinating with the Spiritual Caregiver team.

What You'll Need to Succeed

We're seeking a spiritual leader with experience and a deep commitment to providing comfort and peace.

I. Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • A minimum of two units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or in the process of obtaining your second CPE.
  • A Master's degree in Theology, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field is preferred.

II. Experience:

  • Two years of professional experience working with clients and families experiencing death and dying.
  • Comfort and familiarity working with a diverse range of spiritual and religious practices.

Key Responsibilities and How You'll Make an Impact

As our Hospice Spiritual Caregiver, you'll play a crucial role in delivering exceptional spiritual care.

I. Performance Standards:

  • High Quality Care, providing proficient to expert-level spiritual care that aligns with National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) Values Competency.
  • Represent Home Health & Hospice positively within the community.
  • Ensure timely spiritual care responses for new admissions and changes in client condition.
  • Serve as an integral member of the Hospice Interdisciplinary Group (IDG), fulfilling all associated responsibilities, as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively within our interdisciplinary team to ensure integrated and holistic client care.
  • Foster relationships with community faith leaders to enhance support for hospice clients and families.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation of all visits according to department policies.
  • Champion quality care, customer satisfaction, and efficient work processes.
  • Engage in Quality Improvement activities as assigned.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of self-care, particularly in managing stress, grief, and loss.
  • Clearly articulate the role of each team member within the interdisciplinary model.
  • Perform other duties as requested by your supervisor.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

This role involves a dynamic environment, requiring flexibility and physical capability.

Working Conditions:

  • Travel will be required.
  • Work may occur in community-based settings, clients’ homes, and outdoors.
  • May involve non-business hours.
  • You may encounter:
    • Emotionally upset clients, family members, visitors, and staff.
    • Stress inherent in a demanding profession.
    • Exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
    • Various environmental exposures, including inclement weather, animals, firearms, tobacco use, dust, and other client-based activities/preferences.
