Position Summary
The University of Vermont Medical Center is seeking a skilled and dedicated Physician Assistant with at least 2 years of clinical experience (primary care and Epic experience preferred) to join our Primary Care Adult Medicine team.
This is a 0.8 FTE exempt position with primary shift coverage of M-F with no evening or on-call requirements. The weekend requirement is 1 Saturday per quarter for a total of 4 per year.
We are developing a new model of care to help manage the in-basket burden by having dedicated providers address acute needs for adult patients (18+)—including same-day requests, medication refills, and other urgent interventions. This innovative role will also utilize video visits to address acute medical needs when appropriate.
Key Highlights
Onsite position – instrumental in shaping and refining this new care model
Program reviewed at 6 months and 1 year for impact across our Network. If outcomes aren’t met, position transitions to a standard clinic mode
3–4 video visits per half-day session plus patient communication management
Visit lengths: 15–30 minutes depending on patient needs
Supportive office environment with a diverse clinical and administrative team
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive care to patients in various states of health or illness in collaboration with one or more physicians
Address acute medical needs via in-person and video visits
Manage timely responses to patient messages and medication requests
Collaborate with the Practice Supervisor, APP Lead, and Site Medical Director
Contribute to process improvements for this evolving model of care
Education & Licensure Requirements
Completion of a PA educational program accredited by ARC-PA
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred
Current NCCPA Board Certification
Active Vermont PA license from the VT Board of Medical Practice
Experience
Minimum 2 years of clinical experience preferred
Primary care and Epic EMR experience highly desirable
